Bringing Mini Me along with me to show in 2 wks.

Now sorry for the numpty question.

There is an M & M First ridden

& then a " first ridden"

Ponies breeding is unrecorded - do you think she is of type to enter in the M & M? ( sorry these are the only pics I have on my PC to use )

I would suggest don't platt up and go M&M first ridden as pony isn't fine enough/a bit too chunky to be considered for a "show pony" class, however you could platt up and go in a part bred welsh (they don't look at passports till you get to affilliated/county level shows)or a Show Hunter type class.

There is also

RIDDEN SHOW PONIES
RIDDEN SHOW HUNTER

both of which i know the pony isn't suitable for so thats where the problem lies between choosing between the M & M or the First ridden...

Thankfully in a few mths they will be used enough to each other to start doing cradle stakes & she can leave the showing to me lol.

M&M is usually for registered ponies (but if local I doubt they worry too much) pony unplaited and untrimmed (apart from some careful artistic natural styling) flat noseband and plain browband on bridle. Rider in tweed jacket with no fancy buttonhole, discreet coloured tie and any hair ribbons - workmanlike and subtle

The other first ridden will almost certainly be for show type ponies, plaited and trimmed, fancy browbands and fine raised noseband. Rider in navy jacket with no holds barred on tie colour and fancy buttonholes and bows in hair etc

There is also show hunter pony first ridden but they aren't as common at local level

I would call up the secretary and check on the second class just in case, if it's a local show it may be something slightly different that's evolved over the years!

Once you know what type of class it is google some pics and compare your pony. It has a diddy neat head so may be at home as a show pony but if it has hairy heels and a flyaway mane and tail that's different lol

Good luck!

Have just looked at schedule again & they have the Lead Rein & First Ridden followed by the M & M Lead Rein & first ridden so people have time to unplait if they want to to both classes, so Mini me would like to give both a go.

Thank you very much! Really lovely to hear:) They are only still getting to know each other but its as if mini me has had the pony years.. pony is the untimate first ridden. totally trustworthy yet zippy which mini me loves.

Know absolutely nothing about showing but just wanted to say how thoroughly beautiful the pair of them are.

LOL Col,

That throws a right spanner in the works! As there is ALSO as show hunter class:) Think will just stick to the two this time out! and will look at the show hunter class & maybe stick the pair of them in in at the show 2 wks after:)

I would have thought show hunter E :)

Not too chunky but not too fine for hunter :)
Plait up and plain Browband :)
