Hi, just a quick one! Can someone tell me the protocol on names; do the puppies have the mother or farther name? And what doe it mean when they have 'blah blah at (or for/of) blah' ?? hope that makes sence. thanks!
If you're registering puppies the KC need to know the sire and dam's details but you don't need their name in the pups name.
I'll explain the next bit using my affix - the "blah blah"
which is a registered name so you generally know where the pup comes from. In this example, pups who have "Moricroft" at the start of their registered name are recognised as being bred by my mum so from our kennel. Does that make sense? It's basically a Kennel name that the Kennel Club recognise as being of our breeding. So our dogs are KC registered.
The "at, for, of, over" means that another kennel owns the dog of someone elses breeding. Our dog Jenna is a good example, she's Bareve Sandpiper over Moricroft. She was bred by the Bareve kennel but now we own her and have bred from her and she has our affix on her name.
Thanks thats great, really helps!!!! Basically what i thought but wanted to check, my dog has his farthers kennel prefix but nothing from his mother as she only had one litter, where as the bitch that they want to use our dog with has her mothers as she was from a breeder. All there family on oboth side have all been KC regstered. Just wasn't sure if there was something that said you had to use 'family' names. Wht dogs do you breed?
