How many horses are in the field and how many regular wheel barrow fulls per day do you take out?

I seem to be spending far far longer poo picking new fields than i ever have done before but think i'm still "getting on top" of my friends horses being there (also not sure my daughter is doing her share ;-))

I have two horses in one field, I poo pick morning and night and get a full normal sized wheelbarrow at the very most.

1 barrow a day. 14.1 Dales and a 13.0 New Forest. About 18 droppings a day between them.

We have three atm and usually do e.g. one barrow mon, two tues, one wed, etc. So about 1 1/2 per day - just a standard size barrow. :)

I have four at the moment and take out approximately two to two and a half barrows each morning, I clear the paddock daily.

14.1 cob good doer on restricted got 9 poos today. Could be 6-9 daily. I love it when they are dry in the sun ...polystyrene!

I work on a 1 barrow per day per horse (depending on size of said horse) if there is more grass it is likely that there will be more poop.

Hense if 'new field' has been rested, this could be the reason for more poop.

Having just returned from doing this very chore I can honestly say I got 7 heaped normal sized wheelbarrow fulls from the darlings  and its done daily  There are about 14 horses in the field at the moment

I am always curious, how large are everyone's fields? How long does it take you? How far do you have to push the barrows or do you have 'dumping spots' in the fields?

No way will I do mine by hand, only 3 are less than acre (1 horse in each), 3 are 2 acres (2 horses in one, 4 ponies in another) and two others are over 6 acres (6 and 11 horses) that's a lot of muck:( If I were to walk that lot every day I'd never get anything else done.

My one boy is on 3 acres and he poos in the same spots(2 areas) all the time. I get the odd stray one! But he is clean and it takes me 10 mins with rubber gloves to pick 9 poos! I have had more horses ie 4 and yes it was blooming hard work I use to rotate and chain harrow & poo pick but do hae another 2 acre paddock to rest it. I can check him over, check his water it probably takes me 20mins to visit and clean. The only time its awful is if I go on holiday and dont get anyone to do it.I come back to hell!

Two horses and one pony in three paddocks. Get one barrow daily from big lad (16.3hh shire x -think elephant poo's ;-)) and one barrow daily from the other horse + pony. We poo pick every day xx

If you work out that most ponies/horses poop about 5 to 6 times a day, that is a lot of s..t xxx

Blimey:eek: Mine are abnormal then, I'll get at least 4 or 5 just from them standing in stalls for 7 or 8 hours during the day when it's hot:eek:

Oh we are so lucky - YO has just bought a Kubota (sp?). It's like a mini pick-up truck - 4wd. It just has one forward gear and reverse. My 2 have just been moved to the farthest paddock and I am so glad we don't have to use barrows anymore. We have had to pay a couple of £ per horse extra in livery per week for the use of it, but it is soooo worth it.

I should think the truck part of it holds the equivalent of 1.5 barrows - the big blue 2 wheel barrows. If we poo pick every 3 days we fill the thing.
