When buying brushing boots, do the hind boots need to be bigger than the fronts.

I'm looking to buy a pair of Roma boots for me ponio and wondering do I just get pony size for all legs?

Also, how do you get a martingale stopper on your martingale? Have tried to put in boiling hot water to soften it but it's a bl**dy nightmare!!!

My 14.2 has small front and medium hinds in Roma brushing boots and the same in woof.

To get the martingale stoppers put two bits of baler twine through them and stretch. If you are on your own, tie one end to a door, pull the other end yourself using spare hand to shove rein through. Same method works for getting bit rubbers on!

Usually boots would be sold in pairs of either fore or hinds, as hinds are bigger. you would then just buy normal size for your pony, eg pony/ cob. if they come in sets of four the hinds will be different to fronts in set.

Cool!!

Thanks. It is Roma boots that I'm looking to buy anyway so that's a mahoosive help!!

Will try martingale stopper idea too. I have managed to get the rein stoppers on but not the martingale one. I take it that it'll work with that too?

Most boots come in sizes of pony/Cob/Full/Large or extra large.

Martingale rubbers/rein rubbers or bit rubbers normally I've always dropped the rubbers into hot water for a while (watch you don't scold yourself taking out) This lets the rubber stretch more.

Word of warning, i bought some Roma boots (which are very good BTW) but they came up very small, so if you get a chance put some old ones or borrow someone elses, find a good fit and then take them to the shop to measure against. That way should save you a headache.

All the best xxx
