Sorry, it has been a long long time since I tried a horse properly! Does anyone have any suggestions on the questions you always ask? I have covered the usual things like vices, farrier, clip, load, lorry/trailer, turn out and hack out alone/in company, have seen the BE record....

Eeek what else should I ask

I always ask if the horse has ever been a headshaker... i think it is a notifiable vice now and they have to tell the truth about it.
I'd ask what sort of thing might faze the horse... i'd always rather know, and some people might even tell you the truth..!

Mind you, the first time I saw Jinsky I fell completely in love and didn't really ask anything. I was a grinning bumbling idiot!!! Luckily it all turned out fantastically! Good luck x

Got to get ready for the Glos meet up now, but thanks v much so far

I will log in tomorrow and write a list to take with me, otherwise my memory is like a sieve

Definitely the vet and injury history - I'd ask this almost first now!! Also what are its quirks - they all probably have something. I'd also check out its feeding/turnout regime - does it go hyper if not ridden and turned out daily, is it fed lots of supplements and why? What bit is it ridden in for every discipline? Just a few ideas

DON'T ASK - what do you dislike most about him/her?

This is the most ridiculous question that nobody will answer honestly!!!!

Question tack, like choice of bit, noseband etc. If safe to do so, try them in a snaffle and cavesson to see if 'extra's' are necessary x
