Im off to Wellington tomoro to do the Elementary Retricted Petplan.

Just been looking up everyones results who im competing against (i know, i shouldnt!)

However someones results have thrown something up, and i believe she should be in the open section.

She competed the horse shes riding tomoro at Medium level, and got points in 2004, and also competed it open elementary in 2004 and got points. Shes had a 2yr break and in 2007 has started competing it Elementary Restricted - thats not right is it? Even though shes had a break from competing it was only 2years with that horse, and both she and the horse have points at medium level, AND they are over the elementary points limit too.

What do i do?

ETA - just realised its a different rider, however the horse still has points at medium level, so should it not be competed in the open elementary?

Even if it was downgraded it should still be in the Open section......

What I would do is go and ride, and see what happens. If you win - then who cares! If this horse beats you or prevents you from qualifying, then think about raising a query with BD straight away.

Good luck btw.

i doubt il win!! but i just dont feel like its fair on me or anyone else competing. Shes got the highest marks of everyone competing aswell (i really shouldnt look up results should i!!!!)

god why do you do this before a big event - actually im sure i would to so ignore me !!

All you can do is call the BD and ask them or the organisers ?? they may have a good explination ??x

i just called BD - she can compete it restricted elementary, even tho the horse has points at medium level - personally i dont think its very fair, but there we go.

The horse only has one more outing at elementary apparently before its out of the points - so i guess this is its last outing!!

well shes allowed to according to BD, so thats that!

I was just curious actually, as when Lois was competing Bloss i was told she had to compete Open Novice, even tho Lois had no points at all. Seems wierd to me - i could technically ride a really good horse thats competed at a high level in a restricted section of elementary if i wanted to -aslong as its within the points limit

I wouldn't worry about it too much, last time you looked at your competitors results they were all at medium and you still beat them. Good luck for tomorrow

Its always been the case that the section entered is decided purely on the level the rider has won points at. The horse can have competed at Advanced level but if it's only got elementary points and is ridden by a group 6 rider then it is eligible for the restricted section.

If a horse has been downgraded then it must always go in the open section irrespective of the rider grouping until it reaches the level it was at before it was downgraded.

A group 2 rider CAN ride in prelim open sections, according to the BD rule book, providing the horse has less than 37 points though lots of riders don't realise it. I think they just tend to assume they can't.

really oh thanks ill let her know !! to be honest though she got 70% in her first novice so i think we will keep letting her think she cant do it !!

Something recently happened with BE after a pro won a class they should not have been in. This was found out after the event. There was a complaint to BE who made them HC and the person who came 2nd won. This is why open results on the Internet are a good thing even if incredibly annoying sometimes if you have had a bad day!!
