Quick advice...overwormed!

The little catch that measures out n restricts the wormer has just failed and my 12hh pony has just had an entire syringe of wormer!

Before panic sets in, anything i can do to help with the fact my 225kg pony has just had a 600kg dose of eqvalan duo?!!!
 
The pony should be absolutely fine, obviously keep an eye on him and get the vet if he shows signs of colic but they are often given a double dose of wormer to get rid of a serious burden and the safety margin is fairly high, cannot remember how high but far more than one whole syringe.
 
He should be fine just keep an eye. Welshy last year had a whole tube and he's perfectly alive and well still. :)
 
yes much flimsier considering i check and check again that they have twisted and 'locked' into the right bit and they still don't hold in place. It makes worming a syringe avoiding pony even harder
 
This happened to me! I gave my little 11hh pony enough wormer for a 700kg horse! I phoned vet for advice, they checked the sheet and told me to keep an eye on him but he'd probably be fine. (he was!)
 
i did he same thing with a pony lighter than yours. luckily no issues. there is usually a big overdosing leeway, but check the leaflet or contact the maker or an sqp. perhaps online/
 
Dont panic, I also gave Tiny Fuzzy (all of 33ins high) a full syringe of wormer last autumn as the clicker also moved as i plunged. (usually she gets the left overs from others, so this isn't a problem).
Called vet who said to monitor, make sure she had enough roughage going in (so lucky pony had ad-lib hay over bight), and all was fine :)

Keep an eye open for possible colic symptoms in 1st 24 hrs, hope all goes okay :)
 
Better to over worm than under!!! I did the same to our shetland and he was fine so I wouldn't worry...if still in doubt double check with your vet.
 
I got my maths wrong and accidentally gave my pet kune kune 10 times the correct dose of wormer. Thought "too late now" and left her to it. She was fine. X

They are getting flimsy, I also find them too long to safely hold and get my thump on the top, admittedly I have smallish hands, pity the rest isn't the same. I very nearly pushed the whole lot down Ted's throat the other day because I couldn't hold the syringe firmly whilst wrestling with the cart horse.
