Quick advice please

I know this should be in stable yard, however thought id get a quicker response in here!

Im going to put Archie on NAF Pink Powder, however hes VERY fussy about what goes in his feed - do horses generally like it? I know there are some suppliments that horses really dont like so i just wanted to know what the general feeling is on it. And does it work??!!

Also does anyone feed this Cool, Calm and Collected or know anyone that does, im interested to see if it works as id quite like to put him on this also.

Ive tried him on a few other calmers and non have worked, but this is more a 'brain' suppliment if you see what i mean.

Their gastric care and protection has proven far, far better for us than pink powder. Even Moon eats it and thats saying a lot.
Have one hunter that came to us with permanent runs, had been on pink powder for ages. Switched him onto this and problem went, literally within a week.
 
I totally rate Pink Powder! My boy won't touch his feed if there is any hint of an alien powder, but he gobbled PP no problem! TBH PP alone made my boy very calm and chilled - he even stopped biting which is a miracle... the only reason I stopped using it is that now he's an old grandad he needs more vits and minerals, and being a fatty I can't pump him full of food, so now he has Blue Chip x
 
Never known a horse turn their nose up at Pink Powders yet and that's included some very fussy eaters, off the top of my head I can't actually think that is smells. Have always damped down feeds with it in to make it stick though.
It's cheep enough so might be worth a try? You can get a small tub for less than £10.
 
My horse ate it without a second glance aswell. Cant say ive noticed any change in his temprement but he is generally laid back anyway, he doesnt sweat up in the horse box anymore though so i suppose its had some effect, I fed it for digestive reasons and its mad such a difference

this is going to sound useless, but there's a equine band that my vet sell which was very good to calm my boy down when he was on box rest many moons ago which i found very good work on nervous system (at one point he was on 13 acp to calm down that didn't work so we tried this band at defo helped)
but can't remember trade - d'oh
but will find out

ps does this mean the swap is still on!! video hasn't put archie babe no1 fan off at all

I would as my vet told me alot of nervous tension and excitibility is due to an inbalance in the gut (caused by concentrated feeds)... as PP puts good stuff in and rebalances, you should see an improvement in any nervous, anxious or excitable behaviour - guess it doesn't work with all horses, but did with mine - since i've been using a balancer i've had no spooking, jogging or shying on hacks and even if he gets a bit more forward at shows still, he doesn't get stressed out as much

I've used the Cool, Calm and Collected after hearing great reports. My very greedy, non fussy horse wasn't that keen on it in his feed TBH and you have to put in quite a lot. They do a peppermint flavoured version now though so you could try that instead.

As to its affects - I didn't notice any difference in behaviour but plenty of people I know swear by it.
 
Only thing that works as a calmer on OH's stressy mare is Coligone! Also never had another stressy colic since she's had it (did that once and put her straight on it)
 
My stressy mare calmed down when I changed her diet entirely to hay and Simple Systems, it realy was quite a radical change. I agree that using a supplement could probably help short term, however a natural (notmollasses or cereals) diet may be something to consider long term.
 
Finni eats it with no probs. Smell slightly citrus like.

He is also a lot more chilled on it. I stopped it for 2 weeks as I only intended to use it as a month "pick me up" after he had a virus. He was a loon. Much better back on it again.
 
Maiden is on Pink Powder while she is on box rest, at the 30 day concentrated rate. I am very impressed (although don't know how much of this is also due to putting her on alfa a) as she has started to look healthier and has a shinier coat (depsite moulting everywhere), and her poos are becoming much less sloppy. It's also got magnesium in, and I'm sure it has helped Maiden settle into her new box rest routine. She became completely neurotic at first, was jumping all over everyone, but I put her on the Pink Powder and she was much calmer, now even more so as she's settling down. I am so impressed with the Pink Powder that I'm planning on putting Maiden on it as a general supplement next winter, just until she goes out again at night in the summer of next year.
Although I wouldn't know about fussy horses, Maiden will eat anything I put in front of her!
