Quick hoof question - event lines

I can remember reading a post on here a while ago where the topic was on event lines in hooves.

One poster said how long it takes for a hoof to totally grow out but I can't remember why they said. Does anyone know how long it is? I seem to have 12 months in my head but could be wrong!

It depends how fast the hoof is growing and I believe shod hooves grow slower than unshod, but 9 months is a reasonable approximate.

My barefoot boy grows a new hoof approximately every 6 months... the shod hoof can take twice as long, if not longer...
