I'm attempting to get a horses stocking from yellow/brown to white tomorrow. I've tried all sorts of lotions and potions in the past but find generally with bathing that 'non horsey' but safe products work better.
With this in mind does anyone have suggestions for how to get them as white as poss??
I'll make sure to bandage im after to stop dreaded stable stains :(

Scrub with washing up liquid, use a nail brush and scrub gently until the skin is also pink rather than shady brown.

Rinse and then wash with Blue/Purple shampoo. Use plenty and work well in. Leave for about 20 mins before washing off.

Then the whiter than white treatment.

Mix one pot of 'Curash' baby powder with enough warm water to make a soft paste. Scrub into the sock with a toothbrush. I bandage over mine using a white hand towel under bandages. I also leave bandages on until almost ready to go into the class, remove bandage and brush excess powder off = ultrawhite socks.

If you can't get Curash babypowder use one that is for nappy rash and contains zinc as this is what helps to make them ultra white.

Hey presto!

My mare has two big White hind socks :) if we're going anywhere then I normally wash her socks with Supreme Blue Shampoo, honestly it's brilliant, it brings up her white hinds a blinding white. If they get really grubby and we're not going anywhere special then I use Fairy Liquid, it does the job and they come up white.

Well i used washing up liquid (not known to be sensitive but i checked first) then a spray that was lent to me to try, talc and finally chalk. All brushed and i have to say i'm impressed. Bandaged up for the night and crossing fingers that all intact and clean tomorrow.

Ta for the tips!
