The boy produced a fair dressage test on Friday good marks for trot & canter but sadly did not relax or show any extension in walk so we lost marks there. Ended the first day in 15th place on a penalty score of 37.4.
Had a brilliant cross country day on Saturday no time faults on phases A& C and we bombed round phase B well within the optimum time of 2 minutes. He was a bit of a handful in the 10 minute box before phase D but he settled enough to be passed sound to continue by the vet. Gave me the ride of my life round the course took the whole lot at a gallop and leapt every jump in his path without a second glance. We finished 3 seconds over the optimum time and picked up 1.2 time faults which left us in 10th place overnight on a penalty score of 38.6.
Had a nervous wait for my show jumping as the class jumped in reverse order. Unfortunately we knocked the second to last and picked up 4 faults which pushed us down to 11th place where we finished on a score of 42.6.
All in all a very successful event and far better than our first attempt in May. The boy was a star and very well behaved 99% of the time albeit a little hyper. I can hardly walk today and everything aches but I think thats more from 3 nights of camping and drinking bubbly well into the night rather than the riding!
