Sorry for a dumb question but can you leave fly sheets / rugs on when it rains e.g. over night? My mare gets bitten terribly and she more or less needs protection 24/7 from now through to winter. I was given a boett with her when I bought her (she doesnt get sweetitch just big swellings where she gets bitten) but am wondering what happens when it rains? Will a wet rug make her cold or do they dry really quickly?

My TB wore his Rambo Protector all through last summer and was out 24/7 .... well it was very wet wasn't it

I worried about this the same as you, but as he is not a cold chap, he coped absolutely fine.

Although if I recall, if he got really wet with it on, I brought him in for a few hours to dry off and let the rug dry and out he went again.

TBO with that particular rug he would have been fine being left .... what rug have you got ?

BTW I see that they sell Fly Sheet underrugs, mmmmm IMO I think they are a bit of a con

Shires are now doing a rug called the Maxi Fly rug performance or something which is like a fly rug but with waterproof material running along the top of the neck and back, such a good idea! I might get one!

You might find that the mesh may rub her when it is wet.

Shires do a new waterproof/breathable fly sheet and Rambo now make a waterproof sheet to fit under their fly sheets.
