Hi all

Got some fun low level dressage this morning. So quick question, if she takes off in the wrong leg in canter what do I do? Do I carry on at go back to trot and re ask for canter?

Also the first part is to walk up the centre line and at x halt and salute. The judges will be on me left. Do I keep the horse straight but turn my head to look at them when I salute or keep looking forwards? Thank you!!

ideally you would bring her back to a balanced trot and ask again, however while you will obv get marked down for it, you will get marked down more if you ask again for it and don't get it - strategy required lol if you are after maximizing marks! If it happens I always ask again and see it as schooling though.

Re the judges, are you sure they won't be infront of you? Either way halt, and make your salute as if judges were infront then you can nod to the judges at the side too.

Thank you for your quick reply! Yes how the school is laid out is the searing area is up the long side of the school the k, e, h side. So as I go from a to c they will be on my left. Bit random I know. I've been dreaming of the test all night and it's one the rc has designed so super easy hehe

Good luck and remember if you do get the wrong lead (which you WON'T) don't get flustered, it's only one movement so only one mark. Expecting a report later :)

Good point! I shall remember it! Ok will update later, thank you all for your kind help I knew you would be able to help me!

Just wanted to say I've done some writing for dressage judges and whilst you will get marked down for a wrong lead, provided you correct it you'll only be marked down for the transition. The rest of the movement will be marked on your correct lead canter so I'd always try to correct it as quickly as possible.

Good luck, look forward to results later :) x
