Can anyone tell me what is meant when ' High Collar' (sp) is called - I have heard this serveral times and think this is what is being called ! Can anyone enlighten me ! Thanks

Is it in bad weather? With one hunt I went out with one was not allowed to put one's collar up and fasten it with the throat piece until the Master did. I never heard it called, but if it had been those are the words I would have recognised for what we were doing.

Other than that I would guess that you are mishearing the name of a disobedient hound. Unfortunately one of my hunts has one called Doctor who is most often being told off, to the considerable confusion of the GP who rides with us :)

Thank-you for all your help - yes I had misheard - I have just managed to talk to the firld master on FB ( the wonders of the internet !) and what is being called is hoick Holloa so thank-you spacefaer - you get the prize !!!

Hike Holloa! Is normally the huntsman wanting you to holloa a fox/scent, normally used when someone has shouted tally ho back. This is why we need more etiquette/tradition!! Thank you for asking. My favourite is whoop windy!
