Our new Greyhound has turned out to be a vandal and a thief. And he doesn't shut up.
He has however just stolen a pack of butter, where he got it from I don't know.
Eating a pack of butter isn't going to kill him is it? It wasn't a tub or anything, just one of the ones wrapped in foil. I don't want him to be poorly.
I don't think parents will be impressed with another vets bill (we've only had him 2 months and we've already had 3 vets bills....lol)

Never heard of butter being bad for dogs, if it was a sort with a lot of fat in it, maybe it could speed the digestive system up for a while, but personally I'd be more worried about the foil.

ETS But about the foil, I might add that I'm the worrying sort of owner.

from Sweden.

........the tubs of butter my whippey x grey has stolen, or just the lick marks in the remaining butter, when caught red handed is no ones business, the butter will not harm him, except maybe some loose faecal matter or some puke in the form of butter coloured bile

in the morning, and the foil should pass through ok, he prob chewed that up a little too

Lurpack aswell, only the best for my greedy, bloody dog....greys are food thieves......I had a rescue grey that emptied the pan(cool of course), full of vegie oil, we had cooked chips in it as the chip fryer was knacked

I have learnt hes a thief. Even my old Border collie wasn't that bad, but she was too busy herding us all into one room

And hes looking very full at the minute, since he nicked half of my dinner off my plate, while i was watching him do it...was slightly too shocked to tell him off or that at first and he obviously paid no bloody notice since he nicked the butter!
And...butter in general...eurgh lol

When we had whippets they used to pinch food all the time. Generally I have found the GSDs aren't too bad but Evie is a terrible thief, she has no shame and will jump up at work surfaces in front of me

She pinched the foil off a ham joint the other day and ate quite a bit before I could rescue it. Doesn't seem to have caused any problems, things just came out well wrapped

I am hoping she will grow out of it, Buffy used to pinch inanimate objects and eat them when she was younger, we worked out it was only things we had recently handled. Her worst was a £20 note, just before we went on holiday. My very noble friend managed to recover most of it a few days later (yes it had been digested) and the bank changed it. Don't think they examined it too closely when Ii explained where it had been.

My newbie greyhound is just the same, she will steal anything and everything she can get her teeth on

I did have my lurcher steal a pack of butter once, he ate half of it before I could get to him, he was fine though

My dog did this once, I came home and there was a huge pool of butter coloured vomit on the patio and for the life of me I couldn't think where it had come from. Then there was another in the house, it was only the next day when I discovered the old anchor foil wrapper that I realised what Bailey had done. He was none the worse for it and actually his coat has been glossy ever since
