maybe a silly question but ,if i put a red ribbon in my horses tail for inhand and ridden showing classes are the judges likely to hold this against him and mark him down .( he's not a nasty kicker but if a strange horse gets up too close he will hump and throw a leg )

I would think that the judge would mark down a kicker, but I would also hope that in a ring people would have the sense not to crowd each other. Having said that I got kicked on the leg when on my mare, during an easter bonnet ride I organized. Was waiting in a wide gate way for all the others to gp through, when a silly teenage girl brought her horse too close and kicked me and my horse. So don't rely on other people having sense!

I don't see why they would mark you down - you are simply being a responsible rider, warning others that your horse might kick. Either way, it is better to get marked down then have your horse kick another horse and injure it or its rider. A ribbon isn't everything.

i have seen plenty of people with red ribbons in tails- i dont see why you would be marked down in the ring as being a kicker is nothing to do with conformation.

i'd rather know that people are aware and keep clear. my horse can be a cow to others who are too close- mainly only when cantering, but in that case if others in the ring are that close then more fool them!

thankyou , he is not what i'd class as a kicker , but if he gets crowded will throw a leg , reading on here about someones horse kicking another due to the others lack of sense i'd hate to end up in rows that i didn't warn people that he could, esp as he is 17'1 mw so could do alot of damage . i'm asking as new to showing and didn't want to commit a showing no no , think i will def go with a ribbon though !
