Yes they do make horses fat they are a very easily digest feed for horses but any thing that contains calories makes horses fat, A broad spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement or a good balancer will give all the micronutrients the horse needs
Personally I dont feed oats as I dont feed cereals if I can avoid them just high fibre low carb high protein diets for all mine
so alfalfa grass nuts and linseed meal
 
I feed my warmblood Dobson & horel build up mix which contains oats & other cereal she looks fantastic now.. But that contains vits&mins but I do give my her& my youngster additional vits and mins in the big round tubs you can buy.. There about £7.40 x
