Hey all

Have a lot to do today so i'll try not to go on too much

Left Friday PM for a 4 hour trip in our little rustbucket....... I mean lorry, from Suffolk to Patchetts in Herts.

Arrived at 7 and sorted the horsey out, the proceeded to stuff ourselves with "smash" potatoe............. yummy

Up at 6 to feed the horse with the intention of there being an arena walk around 8.00am, no such luck so decided to console ourselves with some retail therapy in the tack shop

Anyway test time, I found the warm up a very daunting experience especially when there are people riding who arn't in your class and Anna Ross-Davies is sat at the side of the school warming up one of the pony riders!

Anyway Sicco didnt warm up too well and felt unhappy in his mouth (the dentist has been booked for a while now, just waiting for him to come down from Yorkshire!) but non the less we went in to the main arena and gave it a shot

Actual test was pretty bad which is frustrating as he has been working beatuifully at home! We didn't show any counter canter but supplemented it with a lovely fly-buck instead which set me off with the giggles

Anyway finished and expected something around 55% but ended up with 59%ish with a 3 for submission and a couple of 4's!

Yeah it's a bit of a bugger but everything the judges wrote was fair and right! Even the comment "naughty!" lol

Lovely piccy and dont worry about the score I think most of us have had those days - why tho is it always at something like the Regionals? Gen was AWFUL at his last one - there were birds nesting and he hated them!!!

Its a big feat to get to the regionals so well done and better luck at the next ones.

What a lovely piccy and vid was cool!!!! It can be frustrating when you know they can go better in the test.........but at least you know there is more petrol in the engine for this year!!!! Well done!

Gorgeous photo, I know exactly how you feel about the test though, mine was full of spooks at either end. So frustrating when you know they can go much better at home.

He's lovely, Sad about the test but i'm sure one day it'll be your day to shine. Just think of it as a learning curve and experience. Lovely piccy. My horse has massive rug rubs despite having his vest on underneath to be honest anything including a feather will rub him.

What a spooky arena ,why have those plastic flower troughs along the side? I never know why at regionals and champs you suddenly have to have a horse who

A) doesn't mind flowers, mainly plastic in tubs and troughs
B) if it does mind them when they first see them, they don't need a tap with a whip to remember you have to ignore them.

I don't mind flowers slightly away from the track but those at eye level would test a saint.
Last regional we did the flower pots blew into the arena and became a jump!
Well done you competed well

I watched your test and I thought it was great. Yours to Jo_C. I sat and watched the whole class, and even professional riders were having issues getting there horses past the flowers!
Jo_C how on earth do you get your horsey that clean, I have a grey and aspire to be able to get him that white :-)

I use QuikSilver (ex showing person) and it works wonders.

How did you get on?

I think that people need to not worry about who is in a warm up arena, as you would have to ride with them at other shows. The other people warming up were most probably competing later in the day. And, so what if Anna Ross-Davies was helping someone warm in - you should have evesdropped for some tips, and just think how lucky you are to be in the same vincinity as her, one of our shining stars in dressage.
