Thanks everyon for your luck for today - now need them for Tuesday as well!

Went to the vets today for someone else to ride her to see what they could feel and for another vet to access - all agreed very very mild but something isnt right. She just doesnt want to engage and use her hind legs.

Vet thinks almost def going to be hind suspensory damage and could be in both hinds

will be nerve blocking on Tuesday so will update you when I know more.

Oh no H-J!

Are you checking this as a result of the canter probs post in CR, now I'm worried as W's canter is less than good, but improving.

Hope you get to the root of the problem and it is easy to deal with

Oh HJ I am so sorry.. if its hind suspensories and not exactly lame then hopefully that will be something that is easily fixed with box rest and shockwave therapy. Fingers crossed for you.

P.S I think that this might be the same thing that Becki has with Grace at the moment?

She wont do box rest

but vet said it wont come to that hopefully, she isnt silly in the field.

Looks like breeding from her next year after treatment could be the best thing for it the vet says as it will give her some time off and see if it comes right. But we'll see what happens Tues

Really sorry to hear this.

If it is hind suspensory ligament you have to treat it. It won't come right by giving her time off. If it is in one hind get both treated as the other one will go eventually.

When a horse has high suspensory damage it is hardly ever very lame, it just isn't right. Shockwave is only effective if the injury is recent and going from Spiders history she has probably been wrong since Cressie had her.

Have you got insurance?

Yes it will be treated without a doubt, but the vet said it would do her a favour with treatment and after for her to ahve just over a yr off with a foal.

Yes she is insured thank god, so we will do all we can for her - and yes it has been something she has had all alone probably

All of mine have always been insured I cant imagie not having them insured.

No she wasnt vetted - But vet did a flextion on her on Thurs and couldnt really see anything he said its negligable that she is 1/4 in 10 unsound, its more being studied under saddle and on the lunge you can see her and feel her just not engaging behind ike she should be

Sounds like HSD to me (high susp desmitis) horse i know had it 18months without being treated he ahd 3 sessions of SW and is now sound. horse was backing off in canter and its hocks werent flexing as they should esp on lunge, it was barely lame at all, only nerve blocks made him come up unlevel. ( i was there during the tests) . Scans showed up that both hinds had it.
