Hello everyone I've been reading and using this forum a lot, but for some reason never joined until now.

But anyway, after some more reading I'm pretty sure this complies with the forum's rules, so it would be greatly appreciated for anyone to fill out this 4 question, totally anonymous quick survey I am conducting for my EPQ (extended project qualification) which I am writing about the effectiveness of equine therapy. It should only take a few minutes or so if you would be able to.

Here is the link:

Thanks, and happy to ask any questions you may have about it :)

Done. My youngest son, now in his 30's suffers from Dyspraxia, also called Clumsy Child syndrome. Horse riding helped enormously with his balance and co-ordination and dexterity and therefore school. It also had a calming effect, these children can get very frustrated with life. He has a degree from a good university.

Rollin - I am so happy to hear that riding helped him to such an extent!
This is just the sort of thing I want to write about in my project. I have seen a fair amount of children benefit from riding just at the small yard I am at.
And thank you so much for taking the time to complete the survey!

Having just slated another survey on here, just to say how VERY well designed and sensible yours is.

Anyone who hasn't done it, do it!

Done.

I did say I though equine therapy dangerous but that is simply becasue I think any equine activity is dangerous for any participant. I've done RDA volunteering before and also seen on a personal level emotional/behavioural equine therapy. Would support both - but do think there are risks over, say, a talking/non animal related sport therapy.

Done. I've put on the survey that I had some friends bring their three year old child with epilepsy and delayed development round to meet my miniature ponies. The child rarely speaks and is uncoordinated. She snatched the lead rope out of my hand and strode off, saying clearly 'walk on!' copying me. Her parents were amazed and very grateful. It beggars belief that this was six months ago and they have an open invite to use the pony for therapy and I haven't heard from them since.

That's loopy ycbm! It is the best therapy for anyone with poor coordination, communication developments disorders if the child is willing which she obviously was.

I'm very disappointed. The child grew in confidence before our eyes. They are a self centred pair in other ways, and they simply haven't bothered to make time to drive a mile up the road :(
