having not jumped for so long.......i have NO long girths in my tack room.......so am going to struggle to try new jumping saddle!!!

roughly what length does the average 16.2hh take? he's a TB, and takes a 26 dressage girth as he is deep through the girth, but quite slab sided.

any approximations appreciated so i can order one asap!

It really does depends, not only on the horse but on the saddle too - I have a couple of saddles and one uses a 42" girth, the other a 50" on the same horse!

Try measuring with a peice of baling twine.

ok, sounds like i need to wait until saddle arrives and measure it.its a close contact with quite short flaps so girth will need to be longer rather than shorter i imagine, its a similar shape to a pessoa.

my 16hh ISH took a 52 with her jumping saddle- she's now trimmed up a lot and takes a 48". i've just ordered a dressage saddle though and was told to buy a girth 20" shorter than her jumping girth...
in fact i've got a brown aeroborn 52" for sale at the mo that i never even tried on her! (has elastic at both ends) if you're interested?

yeah i'm the same - the stephens ones are what i use - normal and stud and will invest in a dressage one once i know what length i need (borrowing a few friends girths to find out optimum length before i buy!

)- love love love them - i just had this as a spare and never used it! was the only one for spare i could find that had two ends elastic!

54" on a quite chunky 16.2hh TB with a Lovatt and Ricketts GP saddle. I am not sure we have been that helpful, quite a range here!
