Apologies if this has been done to death already......

Husband has asked me what I want for Christmas so figured it would be a good opportunity to get some new clippers. My trusty Liveryman Arenas are ancient now and soooo noisy.

We have a new pony who is incredibly nervous about being clipped so I need to find the quietest ones that can cope with his quite coarse coat. Cordless too as my plug socket is miles away so I'm desperate to lose the extension lead. Recommendations please! Thanks

harmony plus, neither of mine had ever been clipped before and are fine with them, and they’re both wimps🤣 manage a full clip, but still small enough for faces - i don’t take the full head off, only jaw to ear, but i don’t think i’d struggle as they’re small and light enough.

If not wanting a “full size” clipper then Wahl KMC+. More than capable of going thru a cob coat with the wide blades on. May take a little while if you’re wanting to do a full clip though.

Heiniger Xplorer are excellent quality clippers that are reasonably quiet and can cope with thick native type coats.
Stay away from Lister Eclipse, there seems to be an awful lot of issues with this model of cordless clipper.

I have these and they are on their 10th season. Bit of a knack to tensioning heingier but lots of clips online to help.

Liveryman harmony plus. Very quiet and easy to handle. Cope with my polar bear connienoproblem.
I am another vote for Harmony Plus.
I have these and I’ve just sent them away for the second time because they stopped cutting. How many clips do you get out of yours? Mine did one full clip on a TB coat (14.2) and then went blunt. Sent them away for a service and blade sharpen, they did half a clip then stopped cutting again! Pony was bathed. Sent away for blade sharpening and they came back still not cutting so they’re in for another service. What am I doing wrong?

I have the heiniger opals. Use a wide blade for a full clip, and the narrower blade for his legs and face.
Heiniger really are made to last.
My corded pair are over 15yrs old and never had any issues.

I've had mine 3 years & they're still going strong. I keep them clean, try to ensure pony is clean & blades are well sharpened. New blades aren't necessarily sharp.
I should probably send them off for a service.
Are your blades clicked in properly? There's a wee knack to get them snapped in correctly.

Definitely snapped on correctly. I’ve also fiddled with the tension (I know you’re not supposed to on these but I was desperate and figured it could hurt to try!). Hopefully they’ll be returned soon, I’ve asked them to test to make sure they clip before return this time!
