Everyone else seems to be moaning today so I thought I'd join in. :) . I've decided I like my yard best when there's nobody else on it! just me and the horses, peace and quiet. I don't mind it when the teenagers are around because they get on with their stuff etc and are pleasant. But the adults, TBH, I can mostly do without because they seem a bit strange at times. I suppose most horsey people are a bit weird though. Anybody else like going down at the quiet times of day?

I love going up my yard at ungodly hours of the morning - just me and the horses - peace!

OH does have a bit of a moan and a dig though when I fall asleep on the couch at 9.30 every night!

I got into the habit of going up to do my horses very early - 5am. Was bliss, yard to myself - turned out, mucked out then rode under the floods. Turned back out and was gone before anyone else turned up. Heaven.

Only problem is - everyone else cottoned on and wanted a piece of it. 5am is now very busy :(

It's not that anyone is horrible on the yard. I just liked the quiet.

When I first moved I hated it (at my old yard I was friends with everyone and loved to see them all) but now I've kind of grown to like it :)

I'm a yard owner and love it that my yard is really quiet with only four lovely liveries who generally only come up between 10 and 3. I didn't realise how much I like doing the horses by myself until I put one livery up for a month whilst her horse was due to give birth. Lovely as she is, and very helpful, I just found myself getting stressed because I had to chat to someone last thing at night when I did the final feeds and haylage. I hadn't realised how much I just enjoy chatting with each of the horses as I skipped them out and fed them. So relaxing. My 'me time'. Having a human there just ruined it all!

Usually only me and sometimes the owner (who is lovely) as it's just us two anyway. First time I have been at such a small yard and have to admit it is lovely.. although do often leave horse in yard with me for company when mucking out etc, we have quiet in depth conversations ;) !

I like both. When I'm at the yard, I do my own thing because my stables are away from the main block but its near enough to join in the banter or not, depending on what my plans are.
Everyone is lovely and very friendly but no one forces themselves on you either.
Its nice to have the choice.

I turn out at my yard 3 mornings a week and always have the place to myself - its absolute bliss and I always get everything done so quickly - leaving me more time to ride :D

I love it when it's just me, I'm not a big talker so I find it more relaxing, some people love a chat but I like to just zone out and get on with it (I must come across rude but it's not intentional) lol

i was on my own place for a long while and then went back onto a very small yard where the YO is lovely and theres only a couple of other DIYers there ,ive been friends with them all for years but i have to say there is one that drives me nuts -she just seems to enjoy winding me up ,and unfortunately it stresses me out ,i used to really love pottering about the yard but now its head work -which i dont need . i dont want to be mean to her but AAAARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH shes hard work

Much prefer it when its just me. I'm not much of a socialiser and I'm always short of time so I just like to crack on. I had to go down late on Sunday and I hated it. Everything took me three times as long because everyone was getting in my way! I'm odd though because I dont spend hours sitting around drinking tea and bitching about everyone else. I go down to do my horses and that's all i'm interested in.

I love my current yard at any time of the day... People or no people... I can't explain it, it's just a lovely warm relaxed place to be. But I. Totally agree, all the other yards, whether good or bad, the best times I had was when it was just me and my horse and no one else

I'm on a small private yard where there is only 5 horses, two of which belong to the same person but I still prefer it when it's just me!
I don't think I could cope with being on a busy livery yard.

Oh well I'm glad its not just me then! I was feeling like I must be antisocial.

Snow Queen you seem to have struck lucky. I'm thinking of moving to a yard which I hope is going to be like that. I've been hearing good things about it.

I'm glad to two I ride are kept at their owners place so it's just the two of them and no other people unless their owner is around, which is not very often as she works full time. I much prefer being on my own with the horses. I'm not much of a people person as it is and find it hard work to try and interact with other people when I'm doing the horses!

When I used to be on a busy yard I found it really difficult trying to work around everyone else, trying to be polite but get on with what I'm doing at the same time. I much prefer having my own space and it being peaceful so I can get on and chat to the horses!

I'd hate a very quiet yard, I'm too chatty - prefer having people to talk to.

I was there on my own tonight, it was fine - I don't mind it now and again but if it was like that every day I'd go insane with boredom!

My yard is quite big (just over 30), but its often quiet as we all do different hours - but I do enjoy the weekends when we're all there :)
