Its just you hear the phrase quite a lot and i have never fully understood what is meant by it.
I always thought it to meant quite a hard ride and definatly not for novices but not necessarily dangerous. Is that right?? And also with quite a bit of character and maybe slight hypo??
I would say my horse was a bit quirky...he has his 'things' and 'issues' that send him into drama queen action...when he won't be reasoned with and you have to ride him very carefully...but then at other times he can be the plod from hell!
He has a big extrovert character and his own opinions on things...which makes for a quirky horse in many respects!
Many people say the best and most talented horses are quirky!
I have a quirky, and have met a few other quirkies over the years. They do odd things that you just can't explain.
It's totally different from being spooky or fresh or cheeky - I have one of those too, and he's not quirky, he's just full of cheek!
My quirky gets his knickers in a twist about the oddest things, and you can never predict what's going to cause a reaction.
An eventer I know had a 4 star horse that was very quirky. She used to say if he was human, he'd be autistic: a genius at some things, but something normal and routine might cause a total mental break down.
