HI, I have recieved a quote to do my outdoor arena and this is what they will do/use, could anyone give me advice on if this is good/adequate as I have tried to do research but with different answers, any info would be great

Scrape and level area 20M x 40M adjacent to house forming bund along bottom and side
Supply and lay 100mm twin-wall perforated pipe at every 5M intervals and infill track with pea gravel
Supply and lay 150mm twin-wall perf pipe to collect rainwater at end of site/ backfill with pea gravel
Supply and lay/roll equishred to a depth of 100mm over entire area

Umm, what type of soil are you on? is it a very well-drained area?
Are they literally just going to put 'equishred', whatever that is, straight on top of the pea gravel (which is only on top of the drainage pipes, yes?)
Umm, no base geotextile membrane to prevent clay heave etc? no base drainage layer? no blinding layer or woven geotextile membrane under the surface?
what's to stop the soil from being mixed into the 'equishred'? 100mm is only about 4", hoof penetration could easily = that (esp if you're jumping in there, i've had a few people come for clinics recently on horses who do dirty stops, and they dig in about 6" easily, if not more).
i think it sounds too good to be true.
i wish my arena had cost that, but there's a reason why they cost a lot to put down properly...

A client of mine built his own school last year. the hardcore and surface alone cost over £12k...... (granted it was in a dip so a lot of hardcore had to be put down to raise part of it up)

My YO is resurfacing our school (surface has been taken out, literally paying for materials and having in laid) ATM and I'm sure she said the quotes were £6k+

i've looked up 'equishred' and i think it's woodchip.
i made a very small 'all weather turnout' area of woodchip, even for that i put it on top of stone with a membrane, and tbh it turns to mush if there's a lot of rain... no way could you ride on it.
i would get other quotes tbh...
