Jacquie Mason 1947 - 2010
It is with deepest regret that we announce the sad death of Jacquie Mason on the 25th February 2010.
Jacquie dedicated nearly forty years of her life to Eventing in Great Britain. Her involvement in the sport was initiated when she became part of the organising committee for the former Graveley Horse Trials in 1971. Since then she has been a popular character within British Eventing, both as a scorer and entries secretary for many events. In 2009 alone, Jacquie was involved as an event secretary for 11 events plus many more as a scorer.
It was Jacquies good sense of humour, sound advice and attitude that made her a stalwart friend of officials, competitors and organisers alike. British Eventings Chief Executive, Mike Etherington-Smith said of Mrs Mason; Jacquie has been a mainstay of the BE Officials family for many years and will be greatly missed by us all. At the end of the 2009 season Jacquie was voted by BE officials to be presented with the inaugural BE Official of the Year Award.
Our thoughts are with Jacquies husband Nick, daughter Sarah and all the family at this sad time. Details regarding Jacquies funeral arrangements are yet to be confirmed, but we will keep members informed
I was very sad to be informed of this yesterday, Jacquie is local to me and her OH does so much for our PC. She was always so friendly and efficient.
