told today that lovley millie who we had on loan for my then 12 year old daughter for nearly 3 years died at the weekend from grass sickness.
millie was a 14.3 chesnut mare and had a horendous start to life.
she was neglected and found in a big herd several including her mother had died of malnutrition.she was nursed as an 18 month old and survived against all odds and remained with the family who rescued her.
as a result of her poor start her confirmation was odd she had a huge head and feet and gangly body and had a sad face but in reality was very happy.
she was one of those special horses who gives so much and we loved our time with her.my daughter was told that she would not help her improve as a rider because of her confirmation and yet she taught her loads about care and compassion and adored her
.she retuned to her owners last year for her young children to enjoy and will be sadly missed.

So sad that this horrible illness, which killed my horse 8 years ago this month, is still rearing its ugly head. Rest in peace, Millie, and my sincere sympathy to everyone who knew her. She sounds a very special horse.

Oh that's very sad as it's such a horrible condition but I'm glad she had a good life once in good hands and had a great time with your daughter. RIP Millie.
