Yep, crits over a microphone are pretty common at GSD breed shows, particularly with the continental judges. Can be a bit embarrassing to put it mildly, but it does prove if the judge knows what they are talking about. I was once asked to do it at an open show, very nerve racking but luckily no one came and beat me up afterwards.

Yep, at some of our larger shows they put the crits out on the mic. I actually really enjoy it, to see if they're seeing what we're seeing. The Germans will also say 'this sort of bitch should be mated to that X,Y,Z type of dog etc' which is also interesting.
Yes, a certain Mr Elliot was not a big fan of our last bitch but he was right, she looked like a giant fat bumble bee with no wings, we only entered her to support the show and bump the numbers up a bit.
And last month someone got taken apart for not grooming her dog before it went in the ring

My Mum has interpreted before, and did so at our trial last year, she wasn't familiar with some of the technical terms so there was a lot of 'Erm...um...(whisper whisper)' and slipping back into German

I've heard this tannoy insulting go on quite a bit! And got to admit, I'm glad we're out of showing, I think I'd just crumble!
But hey CC, you must have some talent to make a GSD look like a bumble bee at all, let alone a non-flying one!
