Can any one point me to a site that tells me about the regulations surrounding shoeing racehorses in the Uk? Im outside of the UK,and have no idea where to start looking!

I am pretty sure there are no regulations as such. I can't imagine any trainer uses a non registered farrier, but it would the farrier that was prosecuted not the trainer if it turned out they were claiming to be registered but weren't.

No 'regulations' but in the UK you have to be a registered farrier, holding the qualifications with DipWCF AWCF or FWCF. Or be an apprentice, on a registered scheme, with you approved training farrier in contactable distance.

The Jockey club are unlikely to have a clue i'm afraid.

Yep as far as i know so long as it is a farrier doing the shoeing trimming there are no regulations. They race in aluminium plates but i imagie that is trainers choice. I know of a trainer that trims and shoes his own (very small yard) but he is qualified

The only regulations I know of are that there must be nothing greater than 1/8" protruding from the ground bearing surface of the shoe (for example a Calkin on the lateral heel), and unlike some other countries Toe grabs are illegal.

Most trainers run in Aluminium plates with a perfectly flush ground bearing surface, or Light steel shoes (5/8 x 5/16" or 19x8mm in section), again with a flush ground surface. A few of the jump trainers run with lateral calkins but they have no advantage IMO.
