Hi, i have an ottb that i think would be well suited to racehorse to ridinf horse classes but i have no idea about how they work. I have a tweed jacket, a skull cap with black hat silk, white jodhpurs and a white show shirt that doesnt need a tie or stock. Just wondering if anyone knows if i would get away with that just for some local shows in ireland? Also any help on how the individual show works would be appreciated
Thanls in advance

You could get away with the skull cap but ideally get some non-white jodphurs so more beige and a shirt and tie. You can pick up a shirt and tie from a charity shop - school shirts often work well and our local charity shops have lots of ties. Tweed jacket fine. Am in England but depending on the show, if the judge doesn't ride then your individual show needs to be short not endless circles. Generally you go out of line - walk away from the judge, go into trot, trot across centre to change rein, pick up canter, canter half a circle to back onto the diagonal change of rein, showing nice trot before picking up the new canter, then canter along the long side - extending into gallop - and then back through canter, trot and walk and halt in front of the judge. You can do variations to suit what shows your horse off best and also depending on the ring as to how you can fit things in. That is hard to explain and it comes with experience but have a look on youtube and you will find examples. It is definitely keep it simple to start off and just don't go on and on. Good luck and enough.
