Racing- not staying all day?

Posting in here as seems to be where a lot of racing folk hang out. I've been to plenty of race meetings but we normally park in centre course (family day type of things) and make a day of it.

One of my OG horses is running at a localish track next week and I'd love to go and see him BUT don't necessarily want do the full meeting. If you park in the main carpark at the track are you free to arrive and leave as you wish? It's just a normal weekday meeting so not expecting it to be unusually busy and it's not a big track either.
 
I would say to just check when you get to the track and they may park you somewhere else if for some reason you cannot leave during the races. I am sure you would be able to though and that they just shut the crossing of the course during the races themselves. Have a fab day.
 
If I go to Taunton (centre parking) and know I need to leave at a certain time I ask and they park me in the staff bit. But as HP said they open the track crossing when all horses are away
 
Thanks both 🙂 I've had a look on Google maps and it looks like there is a main carpark entrance away from the track itself (it's Stratford racecourse) so I guess that must be pretty much free movement. The race is in the middle of the card so thought we might have a car boot picnic lunch there, stay until horses away after that race and then head off.

Sounds nice. I’ve not been to Stratford and it is one on a go to at some point as it’s not 1,000,000 miles away.

I love Stratford - you’re right the main car park is around the outside of the course so it should be fine to move around 😊

I’m assuming you’ve not been there before? I would recommend standing by the water jump (right by the railings next to the parade ring) for one of the chases. Great photo opportunity as well.

Also I highly recommend the onsite cafe near the entrance - lovely food and very reasonable prices compared to the food vans!
 
Embarrassingly I have been quite a few times as an adult but always just came down that narrow lane and parked centre course to settle in for the duration 😂

Also went many times a small child where it seemed absolutely massive, I can mainly remember pipe smoke smells, and the seafood stall. We rarely went to Warwick though as both my dad and grandad strongly objected to the lack of visibility of the back half of the course!
