Hi All,

A friend of mine is considering a career change and is thinking of perhaps being a racing secretary...

Hypothetically, what qualifications/experience would she need?

She is thinking of taking the racing secretary course on the BRS website which is £170 for two days - this along with extensive practical experience in all disciplines/some equine qualifications/good GCSEs and some uncompleted University - would this be adequate?

I myself have never worked in this industry or know many people who do so I'm quite uninformed.

I think my friend is mainly wondering whether it would be worth spending the £170 on the BRS course or whether you need something else?

Bad experiences of the job are not really relevant and she is not really worried about the pay I don't think.

All constructive suggestions/advice would be much appreciated :) - I'm Clueless!!! :P

Not a lot different from any other secretarial jobs!
I daresay wages, VAT, bills going out and coming in.
I wouldn't know about whether the course would be worth it or not. I do know several people who have gone into being a trainers secretary and they never had a lot of qualifications.
