Racing today

I too was there that day
I had the day off school to go and watch Desert Orchid at Wincanton as he was my favourite race horse. My grand parents took me and I had the most amazing day. My mother told me she wouldn’t lie on why I wasn’t at school so wrote exactly why I was not there!

I was at Sandown yesterday. What a fabulous course, I’ve always loved watching it there but the facilities and surrounds are as impressive as the jumping bits.
Had an amazing day.

Sandown lovely isn’t it. So easy to watch even without going into a grandstand and it’s all just so accessible. I like watching the horses going out and coming in up the walkway. Bit biased as it’s where my horse won a decent race but even without that it’s really lovely. I think it must be incredible to do the railway fences on a horse where you hit perfect stride every single fence.

It’s so much more user friendly than Cheltenham.
My horse was third so we had a fabulous time.

And yes when I was young I would have loved the jump the railways.

Oh, that’s brilliant. And yes, I love to think I would’ve been brave enough to jump those fences once upon a time.

It’s Midlands National day!!

I’ve been lucky enough to attend this meeting before as a volunteer to explain racing etc to the public and I have to say how nice the course is. It’s compact, everyone is really friendly and you can get up nice and close to the final fence. I would definitely recommend a trip up there if you’ve never been before.

Good luck to the OG members who have Apple Away running today. Mr Vango is running as well for Sara Bradstock.

The favourite is Knockanore who won the Eider by 16 lengths(!!) and is being ridden by a 5lb claimer.

I’m pleased to see he’s doing well, I felt irrationally sad for him when he got left behind on the other side of the world !
