Racing today

I think the thing is, we don’t know the horse. He obviously did a very good racecourse gallop the other week so perhaps he does well in training. He might prefer being a racehorse over long distance flat races to being retrained as a dressage horse or show horse. He of course doesn’t have to have a career and could just be a horse in a field and or go hacking, perhaps. He is very low mileage on the racecourse having only run 14 times. Who remembers Overturn who mixed chasing, hurdling and flat racing with great success.

Low mileage but three falls in a year won’t have done him any good.

Very late to comment but have read other comments in this thread.

I might be very wrong but has CH had all his falls when padded hurdles were used? They are very white and shiny/glarey possibly he is not reading them as well as the dark birch hurdles which have a white ground line and another white line half way up the hurdle.

Having been to 7 barrows a few times NH has traditional birch hurdles which CH has been familiar with since he was introduced to jumping. Obviously when schooling the fences are very close together so cannot be tackled at racing speed, BHA rules dictate all horses in a race have to race and therefore unlike all other equestrian competitions a racehorse cannot run HC nor run as an educational schooling/confidence building "race".

I witnessed him at the Gold Cup Gallops morning at Newbury he was a very very happy horse and really seemed to relish the racecourse away day. Nico pushed the go button and his response was utterly gobsmacking and he really did not want to pull up!! Having witnessed first hand his very obvious enjoyment of being on a racecourse I fully understand why NH is floating the idea of running in long distance flat races.

Willie Mullins needs some level above grade 1. Like when the premiership was launched for football. First division was insufficient.
Saint Sam must have tweaked something jumping? He was amazing the first few.

He caught my eye in a Sprinter Sacre way when TV turned to them at the start.

Racing TV saying all his falls have come since the change in hurdles, but they could be replicated at home if needed couldn't they? https://www.racingtv.com/news/constitution-hill-plans-on-hold-following-fighting-fifth-fall . The other thing is a racecourse gallop is a very different day to a race day though, and probably why he looked so good at Newbury/similar to what they're getting at home.

I didn't realise Terry Warner was a part owner of Eldorado Allen, he likes a nice grey horse.

Echo Maddie Moo - Final Orders looked like he could have gone round another circuit. I did think Late Night Pass was going to put in a serious challenge coming round the last corner.

That was a good race for the John Hunt family gold cup. Thought the winner looked lovely in the parade ring and Faye Bramley doing really well. Was yelling for him to stay in front. Really clever ride by Sean Bowen - he was moving into the fresh ground in between each of the little barriers and then coming back out to go round. Been some amazing interviews with John and Amy Hunt. Really recommend the Nick Luck Podcast from Monday.
