Racing today

It is indeed becoming a circus now

I cant see him being able to compete at a level on the flat equivalent to what he has achieved so it will feel like they are flogging him for the sake of it

Hes had 3 crashing falls over hurdles that he has been lucky to get up from. I thought he'd broken a leg in the fighting fifth. Surely they can't keep getting lucky with him getting up. You've pushed your luck 3 times, how many more? I didnt see the Punchestown race but it hardly sounds like he was great there either

All this focus on this horse, especially by the likes of ITV, may end up biting the whole of racing on the backside if something happens to him at Cheltenham. Feature race on the first day of the festival can you imagine if something happened to him? Plus they keep publishing articles about him and talking about him, itll be harder for anything to get swept under the rug

They won't be able to resist going for the CH, with a particularly weak field this year. I cant tell who is continuing to drive this whole charade, although my suspicion lies with the owner

Yes he WAS good, but is it worth the risk to his life to keep trying, the consequences of which could be fatal?

Why not thank him for what hes done and let him make someone a lovely ROR?

His owner and at this point NH, are coming across really badly to me, feels like they are trying to scrape every drop out of him

I hope he doesnt get into the southwell race, its farcial how much the prize money has been increased just because of him and the show around him. As others have said on fb posts etc, its a slap round the face for the journey men all weather trainers. Im sure MB will be passing some brown envelopes around

Im starting to only remember CH for the pantomime saga around him at this point, not helped by the media, especially ITV, fanning the flames

Having seen CH at the pre Coral Gold Cup (known by many as the Hennessey sp!) racecourse gallop at Newbury in early November he was a very very happy horse to be at a racetrack. Despite being called a gallop realistically the horses lob round in a modest canter but CH argued with Nico de Boinville wanting to go much much faster.

NH and MB were at the "gallop" their very spontaneous joy at CH's reaction to being at a racecourse was amazing, certainly not IMHO a trainer and owner "scraping every last drop out of him".

I don’t want to see Constitution Hill run over hurdles again but I don’t see an issue if they want to run him on the flat. If he’s well in training and it’s a lifestyle that suits him then it’s no different really to going and off of doing something else. It is late to be starting to run on the flat, but there’s been quite a few good jump horses who have done well on the flat.

Good pr. Lovely to see them looking so well. I remember Kemboy racing but not sure I recall Dora the Xplorer.

Kemboy is a doppelgänger for my horse and with that browband on could be him if I didn’t know he was in his field! Really liked him as a racehorse he was just such a cool dude.

I think it's great that CH has managed to get in for the race on friday. I'm another who has no objection to him continuing on the flat if he can and wants to. He didn't look at all bothered or stressed doing his starting stall training.

I also reckon he'd make a cracking lead horse schooling at Seven Barrows for the newcomers there (NH does say he jumps fine at home - it's not racing pace schooling which probably makes a difference).

I'd love to see CH win the Ascot Gold Cup. Hate to see him run at Cheltenham (or anywhere else over hurdles ever again).

Yes, I mentioned further up the thread about the ascot gold cup. I think it would be brilliant for him. The owner seems to love having CH in the limelight as if he ran there, he certainly would have huge media attention. I wonder if they’d consider it

A friend has an interest in a horse that needs to not declare… she’s hoping for a brown envelope!
Well her horse is also running, she too has never been to an evening all weather meeting, especially one targeting drunk students, but feels it must be done. At least she can hide in O&T.
