Racing today

Exactly, its pretty split on the racing pages, but I bet those who want him in the CH have a bet on him or are caught up in this damn "fairytale comeback" 🙄 you then have those fuelling the egos of the owner and trainer, even Barry Geraghty who sourced CH wants him in the CH. Why? The horse doesn't care that he may not win another CH, he doesn't know

NH comment after the fighting fifth of whether then can keep asking him to do this will bite him on the backside if they do indeed keep asking him to do this, and something happens to him

Agreed with what Reynold said, if he stays up and wins the CH easily, itll be all about how hes back weve solved his problem we are geniuses let's keep him over hurdles

They want the prestige of a CH win. They will be going for it, otherwise there would be no hurdle schooling. I think their minds are made up, they are just pretending to look like they have a dilemma

If they run him in it, and something happens to him, they deserve every slating they get

ITV haven't helped the situation, they are constantly going on about him, which is going to bite them and racing on the backside if something happens to him

You also have the element of risking the jockey (who obviously has a say the horse doesnt).

The problem is they don't really know why he fell 3 times, his eyesight or brain perception of those stupid hurdles something we can't understand perhaps

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 does he not realise he might DIE if he falls in the CH, so wont be around to do anything else. Note as well how they will want to Come back and defend it potentially

If CH had performed as he did in his last four runs over hurdles in his first four runs, would he have been kept hurdling? No. If he then went on and won on the flat like he did on Friday, would he have stayed as a flat horse? Yes.

So what's the difference now? He was good in the past, got overconfident and lost his nerve and is pretty much back to square one without his confidence. If his owner loved him like he says he does, he wouldn't be able to stand there and watch his horse race with that likelihood of another, potentially fatal fall.

I listened to this interview this morning and it made me angry. How can he say if he falls again he won’t go hurdling!!!!! He’s already fallen 3 times, isn’t that enough. I can’t believe he can say this after the reception he got at Southwell. He’s become the people’s horse and far more people are saying don’t risk it. I mean why would you, he’s already won one champion hurdle. Perhaps if it wasn’t such a weak race this year they wouldn’t even entertain it.
Apparently it all rests on a schooling session this week but they’ve always said his schooling is good.
I feel sorry for those involved with the horse who have no say on what happens. I really hope he doesn’t run in the CH. I was all for him retiring full stop but seeing how amazing he was on Friday, perhaps a short career on the flat beckons

I’m also concerned if he goes hurdling again, Nico has that in his head too and Yogi has told them that to switch jockeys would be suicidal!!
Basically, Nico can’t let him go long at any hurdle. I assume they have been teaching him to shorten.

"If he ran and won the Champion Hurdle, it would kind of put a few demons to bed for me, but if he doesn't run on that Tuesday next month, I don't see him running over hurdles again this year."

Note the words "this year" so what they still want to in future?

Also putting demons to bed? Yep for their egos the horse doesn't care 🤨

Yep feels like the pair of them (NH & MB) are loving all the attention (that the media seems to love whipping up around him, do we get this much about any other horse, I know hes Irish trained, but you dont hear this much about GDC for example and hes won 2 gold cups)

Feels like they want this circus to continue

I thought NH was one of the nicer more sympathetic trainers, but hes really not coming across well in this. Is it the owner, are they egging each other on, is it NH?

They should be VERY aware that because of this whole circus around the horse and the drama they are causing, there will be even more fall out if hes killed, than any of the other CH runners, because they dont receive the same level of publicity

There are all these media drives to show how much racing cares about the horses, yet there they are still thinking about hurdling with a horse that's had 3 falls hes been lucky to get up from, 2 horses had falls yesterday where they dived at the hurdle, and one didnt get up

The Melbourne Cup is a dodgy suggestion too, seems quite prolific for deaths for a flat race

NH and NDB will be the ones that take the flaming if anything does happen to him, as theyre most visible at the meetings, unlike MB

This whole laying demons to rest bs is all about THEM, CH does not stand in his stable wishing he could have another CH on his CV.

Its almost getting to the point where it would serve them b***** right if they ran over hurdles again and he was killed, but the horse absolutely does not deserve that

He basically said if he was training CH he wouldn't run him there, that's his opinion and one would think he wasn't worried if he did run seeing as he has fallen in his last 3 hurdle races.

I've get so tired of all this....

NH knows perfectly well that's he could die if he falls again....

They seems to enjoy all the media's attention, but surely in the trainer's heart, he knows that the flat will be better.

It's like they are playing with everyone's nerves.... and talking endlessly about it....

Two big mens with enormous ego..... and a wonderful horse, ready to give everthing he can.

I'm due at Seven Barrows on friday for an Old Gold stable visit to Akimos.

I'm hoping to be able to see CH in his stable as it's in the back of my mind, if they announce this week he's going to run in the CH, that it might end up being the last time I'll get a chance to see him alive.

I'm so sad that thought is in the back of my mind as I have been looking forward to this visit. I'm really hoping that he schools at Yogi's this week so badly that they ditch all thoughts of hurdling again.

To put my two-penneth worth in, if MB and NH decide to run him in either the Champion Hurdle OR take him to Australia in November, then they have proved its just about the money for me and I will lose any respect I ever had for the team.

Spot on, what is the value at his age of putting him through the long flight when hes never left the UK before?

It doesnt help the media are adding to the drama, fuelling connections egos even more

Let's not forget they jump the first 2(?) Flights twice, and theyre in front of the stands. Can you imagine the images that will come out and the fall out, of the runners bypassing the last because of screens around him?

I always thought NH was horse first, eg not running them if not sure of the ground but it feels like he and the owner are whipping each other's egos up and loving the whole circus. Doesn't help the media blowing smoke up their backsides, fuelling their egos even further. Youd think this was the best horse ever to have existed, and the only horse

They cannot use the word love around him then send him to the CH

Someone on a racing forum has also said if he does win, connections will be celebrated for their reckless decision. And of course, itll make them want to keep hurdling

Strongly disliking all connections and the associated circus at this point

Good point about the first two flights at Cheltenham, CCL, I am still hopeful that they will see sense and bow to pressure because let's face it, a lot of their peers have come out saying they would not risk him over a hurdle (thankfully) if he were theirs. Anyone with half a brain can see it's a confidence issue with him and I don't think it'll be ironed out at home. God I'd love to be proved wrong and for him to do a Sprinter but I would be sick with worry if he were to be entered and NH himself has been quoted as saying, not verbatim obviously, that if it goes horribly tits up in the Champion Hurdle then racing will struggle to overcome this, such is the media frenzy that now surrounds them. Retire or some nice cup races for him please.

Why can’t everyone wait until tomorrow when there is supposedly going to be a statement put out regarding his future?

Dan Skelton has said he wouldn't run CH at Cheltenham
It would not be his decision if the owner instructs the horse to run. DS would have to make a decision to do as he is told or move the horse on.

As much as I enjoy racing, it has to be remembered there is big money at stake and the better the horse the more the owners want from it. Owners are not emotionally involved with the horse and neither is the trainer in these big yards. No doubt they are proud of the horse, but it is the lad that knows the horse.
