Racing today

Difference between F1 and horse racing in this situation is that (as far as I know) none of the Emirates have F1 racing teams but all of them have leaders that are actively involved in horse racing.

I also expect that Sheikh Mohammad as leader of Dubai is trying to project an 'air of normality' during the crisis. Don't forget he's also prosecuting people in his country who post adverse reports of missile attacks/damage online...

The poor horses have no say and neither do the staff whose livelihoods and jobs depend on contracts with the Emirates leaders and their families. Trainers can go from being a viable business to bankruptcy when large numbers of horses leave their yards due to tantrums from owners.

So Constitution Hill is declared for Wednesday. I wonder if the huge crowds Southwell got will be repeated again?
There doesn’t seem to be the same ridiculous media hysteria as last time.

No there won’t be as now we know he’s stopped hurdling and he has the speed to be a flat racer. It’s a surprisingly low key race as well so maybe they are just wanting a reasonable handicap mark

Increase in ticket sales for a midweek evening flat meting suggests the interest is still there

NH has said he's running for the handicap mark so he can make future plans.

He was such a stunning horse! A sad loss and worrying that his infection was untreatable.
From what NH has been reported as saying, Sir Gino's infection was the same bacterial infection he suffered after a very minor cut last jumps season which put him in Vet hospital for a significant period of time.

Perhaps he had an invisible encapsulated pocket of residual infection, which reared it's ugly head post pelvic fracture?

Very very sad and yes he was stunning, as was Shishkin also very talented but who managed to fatally break a leg in his stable.

At a yard visit to 7 Barrows not that many years ago NH brought out Jonbon who was seriously on his toes, Shishkin who was fairly cool and Constitution Hill who was so laid back, NH said if you dropped the lead rope he would just eat grass so they did down went the head and tucked in.

The Donnelleys seem to be very considerate owners so I hope they are transparent and keep Joe Public informed about Sir Gino's infection.

Im resisting getting into a spat on fb so I'll say my bit here amongst friends, I hope! I am so happy that NH and MB have found something that Constitution Hill can do. He is still relatively young, fit and wants to race - he seems to be enjoying himself. I don't think even they think that he'll be setting the world alight but numpties on fb seem fixed on the idea that he'll never win a Group race and "who do they think they are"! So what! He's happy and his owner's happy. As for the "circus", well imo this is purely down to the fact that Constitution Hill looked nailed on to bag two if not three champion hurdles he was that much better than his peers, however a complete loss of confidence has scuppered that idea. Now I cannot remember this situation ever happening before, hence I think CH is unique and why it's being reported on so excessively.

I’ve had that spat. Bloody idiots out there.

I think people turning up to see him race is brilliant even if it is an evening meeting. When a desert orchid and red rum retired they used to go places and lots of people turned up to see them. And I apologise I haven’t given capital letters to their name but on Siri rather than typing.

I'd like to think of CHill when he's finally retired being able to do things like hospital visits/charity visits. He's so laid back according to NH.

Isn't it a grey GNational winner that lately does the Alder Hey hospital visit at the GN meeting - Neptune Collonges I think (?) - those children are always so happy and excited to meet a real horse.

Horses are so able to calm and help humans in need and I think CH would excel at that rather than him just doing RoR.
