Just a heads up, You and Yours on Radio 4 (12-1pm) is doing a piece on the choice of venue for the equestrian events for the 2012 Olympics, and it sounds like it will be critical. I'm going to try to have a listen and see what they say.

just heard it. Dane Rawlings and Eddy Stibbe were interviewed; both expressed their reservations about Greenwich, because it is too small, both for number of spectators and for the actual competition itself. DR mentioned that the warmup areas would be insufficient, especially for the show jumping.

Seb Coe said how important it was for sports to be as close as possible to London so that "everyone could feel involved", but if only 20,000 specators can get into Greenwich, I don't see how this opens up the Equestrian sports very much! Especially as most of those tickets will inevitably be corporate packages and so unavailable to the normal person.
