Well first of all thanks for all the luck it seemed to have done the job to some extent
wink.gif

SGO was super hyper this morning, pacing his stable like a 2yr old and generally being a pain, which probably wasnt the most promising start to the day
wink.gif

However, arrived at Cranwell later than planned due to traffic, so after a quick dash round, got tacked up and on for the stressage. SGo warmed up beautifully, but as it turns out was lulling me into a false sense of security
tongue.gif

Started the test well, some lovely trot work, nice square halt at C for 4 seconds, good walk etc...asked for canter, and YEEHAAA!!
tongue.gif
A buck and we were off
tongue.gif
SO the rest of the test was exciting to say the least
tongue.gif
wink.gif
hmmmmm!!!! VID of the naughty chappy
tongue.gif
starts half way as my camera died as someone (

) has forgotten to charge it, so the phone took over

Walked down to the SJing and went

crazy.gif
, SGO isnt a filler fan AT all, and tbh hasnt been out jumping properly for aggggessss, so to be greeted by a course of fillers, funny lines and a triple didnt exactly fill me with confidence... and the discussion of "will they let us go XC if we get elim" was had
smirk.gif

I wasnt filled with confidence when SGO exhibited one of his now-becoming-trade-mark stops in the warm up and sent me flying, luckily landing on my feet in a rather composed manner
smirk.gif
smirk.gif
he didnt appreciate the slightly muddy ground infront of the practise fence, not that he is precious or anything
wink.gif

ANYWAY, went in, showed him the SCARIEST fence on the course, and set off, apparently at a similar pace to a grand national runner
wink.gif
tongue.gif
With alot of vocal encouragement and some "forward" riding, we miraculously came out with a CLEAR! Cue

Quick dash round the XC to find everything was pretty much how I expected, nothing to worry bout except the "quarry" at fence 3 which was a small trappy fence on the edge of a "quarry" with a tight spooky approach and a step on the right handside, and then two stps out again....

Tacked back up, and hacked down to the start where SGO thought steam train impressions and camp headshakes all the way was DEFINITELY the order of the day, me thinks someone is working out what comes after the SJing....

Came out of the start box, bit wiggly to the first, a quick slap down the shoulder and we were away....
crazy.gif
I had absolutely NO control coming into 3, so just kinda half halted as much as possible (not much
crazy.gif
) and sat back, as predicted he launched into the bottom of the quarry, bounced back up the steps and was away!!! Basically towed me round, and I think thoroughly enjoyed himself, although some of the lines weren't pretty as steering and brakes (who needs those anyway?!) were pretty much non existent

Anyway, ended up on a 44dr

Double clear

and would have been placed I think, but they were taking SO long to get the scores out, we left before we knew where we had ended up...but never mind!! Overall a very good day
grin.gif

Thank for reading, will post pics when they come up... will give you al a laugh

Comments welcome as always

Well done - some very nice bucks indeed!
tongue.gif
The rest of the test was great though - and the SJ was nice not miraculous at all imo - a very good day out indeed.

He looks like he can be a cheeky little bu**er at times. Has his flatwork improved a lot since last year?? Apart from his first canter he looked fab.

The third video is the same as the second one - is there an XC one as well.

Well done.

Fiona

Lol! He is a cheeky little bu**er Hmm, his flatwork is more expressive now, but its keeping his opinion out of it which can be difficult
wink.gif
...but yes, his trotwork was alot more supple and he is better with his lateral work now which has probably contributed to that!! However, he was getting dr in early 30's last year....

Oops re. the duplicate vids... XC one

Hee hee, love the videos....well done!! He's a proper 'pocket rocket'!! Very opinionated one tho - but then he is ginger -I suppose there is nothing worse than a ginger with small man syndrome
tongue.gif
tongue.gif
!!

Very jealous of your halts in the dressage, wish mine were that square! Couldn't believe how 'pingy' he was in the sj.....also not surprise he decanted you with a stop....there's nothing in front of you
smile.gif

Well done though, you both look fab and it looks like it was a fun outing
smile.gif

Thanks, he is the Small Ginger One, hence the abbreviation
tongue.gif
grin.gif
He has got one hell of a jump in him though...
grin.gif

I wont be doing any aff stuff on him, he is 14 so everything is just a fun outing for him. Shame he isnt 6 though, he would have been awesome if he was in the home he is now from a youngster
smirk.gif

LMAO at the "small man syndrome"!! very true!
tongue.gif
he is welshyx arab aswell which adds to his opinionated side
wink.gif

His halts were good, he only got a 5 for his last one
mad.gif
couldnt see past the wild pony look he was giving them obviously
tongue.gif
wink.gif

He is very "pingy", and his stops are a bugger, as he has learnt to throw them in very last minute.... hence defensive seat taken on occasions
tongue.gif

Thanks MH
smile.gif

Hattikins I think we can safely say he was...
tongue.gif
Was going to take Goddy today actually, but he isnt allowed to do the same class as SGO did, and the next one up can be a big "leary" and I wanted a straight forward run for his first one of the season. However, after walking the course, regret not taking him today actually
frown.gif

His first ODE will be stafford BE though in 2 weeks!!!
grin.gif
grin.gif
grin.gif
VERY excited, which is probably dangerous.... but never mind
wink.gif

Hi, not sure if anyone agrees but i felt that the sj course wasn't set brilliantly for the likes of young horses, my youngster found turns very tight even in the novice. Considering its one of the first events of the yr i was hoping for a more straight forward inviting sj course. Good xc tho!

Yeah I think alot of people struggled with the SJing tbh...what section were you in Glow_Worm? How did you get on? Welcome to the forum by the way
smile.gif

Thanks! cant rember what sec was called lol, long day! i wasn't in junior sec tho, the other one. not sure how i did waited for aaages for results, ended up leaving as horse had long day and didnt think it was fair on him to wait any longer! had pole down sj and clear xc so was pleased, will check results toworrow. Btw do you know who was taking pictures? didnt get a chance to find out.

Wow he is so cool!!! The SJ was very spooky and a lot to look at, well done for the positive riding!!!He looks great xc, really taking you to them and strides out and everything!! Looks like he had fun
smile.gif

No we had one down SJ the middle bit of the treble
frown.gif

Was pleased with her though as really wasnt expecting to get round XC and she was fab! We did take our time though so may have time faults?
It was our first ever ODE, we usually just do BSJA
I got a 44 DR too
blush.gif
Our halt at C started with coming off the corner and breaking to canter oops. The halt was rather quarters in too
blush.gif

Never mind, I am pleased. Bet you are well chuffed with yours
smile.gif

well done... didnt maange to get as trailer brakes not working... asked for them to be checked last week. couldnt be bothered so $40 down the drain, and trying to do oasby without doing any comps beforehand!
