RAF Halton Ride?

Doing it for the first time eeek! A little nervous would be an understatement! This smiley genuinely sums me up  But I'm sure it will be a great day, first time I've done a sponsored ride on this share, but he's done it for the last 4 years or so, so knows the deal.

I'm doing it for the first time.
I'm, bricking it to say the least. But I refuse to jump anything that isn't in resemblance to a pole on the ground. I never really jump at at home, so it's just a massive hack for me :D

Im still broke so cant do it but it is a great ride and the plane isnt as big as it looks!

Hope you all have a fab time and fingers crossed ill be mended to do it in 2012!

think you will find alot of the jumps are quite alot bigger than 2ft 6. the plane is def around 3ft - and is certainly not one of the biggest fences!

We walked round with a tape measure last year - sad or what. The plane starts at 2ft 9 by the tail and goes up to 3ft 3 by the cockpit end and is 3ft wide in the middle. It rides loads better than it looks. Theres a hedge on the airfield on the corner before the plane and thats 5ft and there's a hedge after the plane made of laurels and that was also 5ft. The sheep pen drop as you get onto the airfield is a 5ft drop but of course your actually jumping loads higher as you've got to jump up and over a rail. I didn't jump that last year ! I did years ago when I was young and bounced but older and wiser now !

My daughter and her friends rode up to it, let the horses have a good look, then rode back and tackled it one by one, so they had a lead except for the first. All jumped it well, other than the young pony, who decided to take no chances! Reckon she jumped around 5' looking at this shot - anyone agree?

The first time my daughter did Halton on her 14.2 mare she jumped the plane on the wrong side of the markers - I nearly had a heart attack - the pony flew over it. I have never seen my daughter grin so much!!

From website:

The course is seven miles long, crosses one road twice and includes approximately 50 cross country fences with a maximum height 2’6”. About 25 of the fences have bigger or more difficult bonus options for the more advanced rider. The ground varies between tarmac, woodland tracks and well-maintained turf. All the fences are optional and there are no time penalties.
