Longish but please read! =D

Friend at yard told me today that she'd found some ragwort in her horse's field, suggesting I may want to check mine. Went out and in the far corner there was quite a lot of small rosettes, and one or two bigger plants just coming into flower. In the field next door there was several ragwort plants in flower, which probably spread it into my field.

Began digging it all up, but there were so many little ones and not enough time I just taped the worst area off, and will sort it out tomorrow.

What other actions do I need to take- any advice? Do I need to feed him some sort of ragwort aid product? He's already having a B vitamin supplement (B Plus health from horse health).

Cookies for getting this far- brownies with chocolate if you can help!

I'm not ruse about feeding him anything but make sure you get it up asap as it multiplies like mad and can be really tough work.

need to get rid of it completely and the root, there is no supplement to feed for eating ragwort, it slowly destroys and kills the horses liver, sign often not show up until liver damage too far gone. Please dig it and burn it!

I have some ragwort in my fields and the horses don't touch it while it is alive, it doesn't taste very nice to them so as long as they have some grass I wouldn't worry too much about it and just keep digging/pulling whenever you get chance. Its a horrible weed and just seems to keep coming back. Got my field sprayed at start of year and it seems to have killed most of it off fortunately, will have it done again in autumn and again at start of next year too.

Get it up asap, but dont panick, my horses have never touched it when alive as apparantly it tastes very bitter.

However please remembder that one plant can seed 20,000 new ones so get rid as soon as you can

Sometimes horse do eat it even if there is grass. I would keep that area taped off and try to dig it up as soon as possible (making sure you get all the roots), and if there is really too much then spray it with something like Barrier H but be awarre that it often needs multiple applications. Getting rid of ragwort is not easy unfortunately

i have never heard of a suppliment for ragwort but i think it is worth your while asking the owners of the field next door to also clear out the ragwort but even if you can get the flowers before the seed it will help

clear it all if you can not clear it tape the area until you can if you are concerned your horse may of eaton some you can buy a product called ragaid it flushes the system of ragwort and looks after the liver at the same time!
