I am in the process of fencing off an area for my horses that is known to have ragwort. We are carefully digging out all new plants that we can find before putting the horses in there. I know what the seedling plants look like and what it looks like when it's flowering, but I'm not totally sure of what it looks like when it has dried out. The area I am fencing off is fairly overgrown and I just want to make sure I don't leave any dried out stuff, as I believe this is the most dangerous. Will it still be so, even though it is from last year? Just trying to differentiate between good and bad weeds.
Does anyone have any photos of the dried out stuff, preferably sort of last years 'crop' that hasn't been removed so I can be sure I know what to look for?
I have looked on google images, but there only appears to be seedling and flowering pics.

Dont bother trying to take the seedlings out as they are so small and you could leave roots behind, which means more ragwort. we dig them out or spray when they get rosette height, easier to handle. You must remember that ragwort seeds can stay in the soil for over 20 years and still come up.So you like us will be digging up and spraying for a few years more, try digging up before they flower as less seddlings. Best of Luck:):):)
