Ok so I know I shouldn't moan about the rain but thats enough of it now thankyou. Do you ride in it even if it is ****ing down? I have ridden once this week and really need to ride everyday if I am to stand a change of getting my boy fit enough to jump in a couple of weeks.

Last night I resembled a drowned rat when I arrived home - took Donkey out around the block - and it peed it down all the way - used my old tack!!

Yep, well i hack him out!!! I put on a waterproof jacket my other bridle...and we set out whatever the weather!! The only things that has brought me home earlier than planned are hail stones and a thunder storm!!!!

!!! I'd like him to stay fit and if i dont ride him for more than 2 days...i have hell when i get back on!!! 2 days is the max fo us, 3 is pushing it!!!!!!

Well its not gonna make a scrap of differance if you've already missed the other 5 days! stick it on the walker or/and walk briskly to the pub!!

Only if I have a fitness programme to follow. Otherwise I don't bother. But we have more problem with the wind which often stops us riding.

I ride in the rain it doesnt bother me that much Plus ben dont like being in all the time. He goes in the field in the day but not the same.

My boy is riden or lunged 6 days a week....so what if it rains? rider doesn't mind & horse doesn't mind either.......it's what waterproof riding jackets & exercise sheets were invented for

If I HAVE to, have been caught out in the rain. Went on a fun ride back in September and it bucketed down the whole time (was not amused

). I don't particularly enjoy riding in the rain though and Cinn usually has a tantrum

so why bother? Its supposed to be fun and something to enjoy in my eyes

, I don't want to shiver the whole way round

No. If it is peeing down I don't and as said above the wind stops us more as he is like a paranoid Schizophrenic in wind and it is not fun at all.

As Bert cannot be stabled and is out 24x7 I cannot rug him back up once he is wet so I tend to avoid riding in the rain.

I try to book an indoor school about 10 miles away twice a week. I see my sj coach every fortnight too which is indoors. Then at least I know that no matter what the weather does (unless it's too bad to take the box out), I'll be riding every few days. Add in indoor comps at the w'end & it means I'm riding more days than I'm not even in bad weather.

I don't school outside when it's raining & howling a gale as I don't think it achieves anything. Will hack if it's raining but not too 'spooky' ie no gusting winds. Will ride in worse weather now I've got my new horse as despite only being 4, he's less spooky than my last horse.

of course we ride in the rain lol if we didnt here in cornwall we,d neer ride , so far this week its hammered 24/7 and the horses are excersized as normal we all just wear macs

Been very luck and managed to ride 4 times in the dry this week. Did lunge and poo pick in the rain tho lol

Personally if the weather is really awful and ive ridden the other days then i would give it a miss. But.. then again, its good practice if i have an event and i have to ride in the rain at least my horse will be used to it

Always kit yourself and your horse out properly! go and get good quality waterproofs!!

I got away with a dry ride monday and today - didnt ride in the week as he was out naked and couldnt be bothered to wait for him to dry!! I dont mind it raining ONCE Im out, but go out in the rain no no no no no!

Yes - don't have much choice as horse's still need to be exercised & ridden whatever the weather. Although it's very much a case of 'pull on waterproofs, grit my teeth and try to get through them all as soon as possible'!

Hamish goes better in the wind and rain at competitions so i ride if i feel like it but if i don't i dont!

Yep, I have to ride every day anyway, otherwise the spotty botty goes bonkers. What's worse, the sandschool is a bit sinky in the rain, so we hack out

Soooo wet, I need to buy some waterproof chaps!

Ride in most weathers bar storms, strong winds/gales so rain's not an issue.

And when I'm having my lessons - only option is hack or outdoor arenas so used to riding in all weathers. In the seven years I've been there - had one lesson cancelled due to bad weather
