Will it ever stop raining? The wind along with the constant rain is so depressing. Difficult to get anything done as sometimes you’re battling against the wind as well as the rain. To make things worse there seems to be an ad cropping up on the radio telling us water is in short supply, not sure which planet they live on but all the fields are now very wet and the roads full of potholes ready to swallow up any unsuspecting car/dog/person, although the dogs aren’t very enthusiastic about venturing outside at the moment.

It's relentless here and forecast heavy downpours overnight and all day tomorrow again 🙃 It's miserable slogging through the mud but I feel sorry for the horses too. I have 2 living out (both retired and 1 is a stress head who refuses to stable), 80% of their field is thankfully dry and mud-free and they have lots of natural shelter and access to stables if they choose to go in, but they just look very soggy and fed up all the time!

I have resorted to looking at the long-range weather forecast for some glimmer of hope which says "a continuation of predominantly settled and dry weather for many, albeit with the potential for overnight frost and fog." for January. We can only hope 😁

I’m on clay so my poor ponies have been stuck on their smallish hard standing area (with their stables) for almost a month now (with breaks). They’re going a little bit nutty due to a lack of room and a lack of time apart, but they’re not terrible (just not wanting to be taken in 1 at a time/taken, or out for solo hacks in Erin’s case) I think it’ll just take a few days turnout and in-hand walking with Erin to get their heads screwed back on properly 🤣🙈

ETA: fingers crossed it actually gets dry for a week or so, though.

Field is currently holding up well and pretty much mud free.

Meant to rain pretty much relentlessly tomorrow though... something to look forward to 🤨

I assume it’s more linked to groundwater levels. In my area many aquifers and reservoirs are still at below average storage levels, because of the demands placed on them due to the prolonged dry weather we had all spring and summer. So even with the wet weather now, we still have to be careful with our potable water usage, to allow it to recover fully for next summer. But yes I agree it feels bonkers when it’s peeing it down outside!

I guess we need the rain after such a dry Spring and Summer! At least you can ride in rain! I hate icy roads and snow when it’s impossible to ride!
You’re certainly not faint of heart! Not fun to ride in, for me ant least! And my mare is a fair weather pony, and will spend stop dead and refuse to move in the rain, she never does it otherwise, so I think she just isn’t a fan! I’ve accepted that it’s not for either of us, and I’ll gladly live without rainy rides 🤣

Same ours are managing a few days out a week on the drier days, otherwise they are in 😭

My dogs, 3 spaniels, well this morning g in pouring wind and rain. They were glad to get back into the car after a park run. Now that’s cocker spaniels. Think the rain has broken them 😂
