Where in the country are you guys … was just commenting today how
Much less mud we have than last year - horses haven’t been moved off summer grazing yet … and I’m hoping to get to
November before I have to…

Right on the south coast. The rain seems never ending.

Today was nice and dry but I don't think the rest of the week is the same . X

It's been particularly bad this week - almost every day we've had a significant amount of rain. The drainage ditches are full and even my field with long grass is muddying up. It already feels like it's going to be just as bad as, if not worse than last year :(

Grey and miserable today horses really fed up with themthrashing the field marching about ( and there is grass !) I've shut them on the pole barn with haylege as they are just doing damage. The field looks more like end of February than October .
It does nothing for my mood I'm flipping between it's ok and the fields are going to be a complete mess by the end of winter!!! Bad storm forecast for Sunday and everywhere is already sodden went into the next village this morning and the single track roads are covered in mud and the verges are really sodden and cut up pulled over to let a vehicle passed and nearly got stuck fortunately going up hill so let it run back to get out. Can see real problems with the lanes by the end of the winter horrendous pot holes and sodden muddy verges.
Ahhh this is so depressing.

I hope its not lulling you into a false sense of security. Mud season has opened early in West Wales - its not too bad yet but definitely squidgy underfoot most places from last week.

I've now caved and have started bringing in at night. Mucking out season is here :(

It can’t we had ankle deep mud from July last year so it’s definitely better than that!

Keep thinking ours should be coming in now - they’re normally in just after bonfire night but one of them knocked me over and trod on my ankle so I’m out of action for quite a few weeks. It would be a lot more work for my daughter (even if it was her horse……)

Everywhere is so wet! No decent hacking left, even the driest tracks. We can walk and trot on the roads or on the surfaced hardcore forest tracks, but everything else is muddy slip and slide right now.

So wet and windy here today... Slippy mud in abundance! One horse has worked out the shelter and will seek respite in it, the other will not go in and stands in the deluge looking utterly pathetic and making me feel neglectful 😂 track is all mud, but they can't have free access to the grass or we'd have different issues... The terrier is loving all the puddles and ditches to dig and swim in, but she stinks of bog after each outing, I'm running low on clean towels and my back is screaming in protest with all this mud wading and dog washing!

Me too I'm getting through a couple of bath towels everyday towelling down 2 Red Setters after every walk this is not the weather for heavily feathered dogs!!
Fortunately the sofas are leather do they can just be dried with a towel but it feels like a Chinese laundry with towels drying as well as our coats.plus winter has only just begun

I don't envy you with your 2! The Patterdale is bad enough... Like you leather sofas and tile floors, but it's never ending... The husband is also a culprit, he's now bringing in mud as well as forge debris, and I'm feeling like a right harpy nagging 😂

Rain again, fields bad where the tractor has been... But I bankrupt myself to get mud mats and a poly tunnel shelter! Here's hoping they actually use it and make the most of somewhere mud free to stand, or I will cry! I did post a hopeful thread earlier about wanting to possibly ride again, but the weather and the credit card statement has made me think in hand and beans on toast for the rest of my life!
I’ve done similar. Mine is using shelter loads 👍

I got a row of 8 mud mats along the edge of the pole barn it's been dug out and a hardcore yard all around it which has been added to every year but this row along the edge where they access it has worked wonders as it was getting a slippery skim on it .
Hubby rolled to bed them in and it's made all the difference. Debating about another 4 to do the corner edges.

I did mud mats inside the shelter, extended into a yard space to tie up etc in front. 15 ton of wood chip alongside to try and mitigate some of the mud (it was free!), and we have some road plainings (sadly not free) on the approach to the gate. It's not perfect, but hopefully it will make the mud less!

Oxford is slowly washing away. It was lovely yesterday then absolutely hammered down all night. Lovely again today, storm and weather warning tomorrow. I've just been out with the dogs for 3 hours, we didn't cover nearly as much ground as we normally do as its so wet and slippy. I'm having to wear wellies every time I go out now as everywhere is mud or under water. I'm just waiting for the Thames to start flooding now, as I'm living just off the river itself, luckily on high ground, but once the flooding kicks in, I'll be marooned and have to drive in and out to walk the dogs. I'm not even sure where we will go. Last winter was bad enough, this feels much worse

Today has been gloriously sunny and warm and I've been outdoors in a vest top - we've finished laying the stone base for our little (v small!!) all weather turnout area today but need to decide what to top it with and I can't make my mind up! Field remains very wet and I even found a big lawn bubble, however am expecting biblical rain again tomorrow 😭

I can't decide which ones to get, do you find one better than the other?

I have used the jelka ones, slightly regretting selling them now though as could use them in my new field at the yard ☹️

A local track livery uses them and laid them down direct on went mud, which gave us the confidence to get them last oct and just plonk them down
