Rain Scald

Hi guys,
I have a 5 year old horse who had rain scald as a foal. He now is left with little bald patches of dry skin round his shoulders and chest. I have tried antiseptic shampoo and various other treatments but the patches are still there. There are no sores/scabs. Anyone have any idea on what I should be putting on this or whether the skin will always be bald and dry?

Wash him with Nizoral - leave it on to dry. Dilute with hand hot water and lather up well, this will kill off any fungal infections. It sounds though like he may have lost the hair folicles and it may not ever grow back
