My pony got rain scald about a week ago. It’s nearly ok now. There are still a few individual lumps but not many and the sores are just bare patches of normal grey skin.
I stopped riding because she had a sore where the girth goes on her belly, and I thought sweating might make it worse.
Im wondering if it’s ok to start riding again. Will her sweating make it come back again? She is freshly clipped out today.
I sewed a cotton pad to go on the girth/martingale where there is bare skin to stop it rubbing.
I was also hoping to hunt on Saturday, and St.Stephen’s day, would you say I should give up on that idea?
Thanks…

I think if she’s been clipped now, that will help keep it at bay. I wouldn’t put tack over any scabs or sore skin, and I would consider sweat/rubbing, if you are planning on hunting, as the skin will still be sensitive.

Just to clarify, the sore isn’t active anymore.
