considering rain sheeting 2 horses tonight as rain forecast over night and in morning and rented 2nd field is getting muddy, want to ride tomorrow afternoon, will they be too hot? am i just being selfish??

To be quite honest my horses have been in lightweight for the last week or so! They are in during the day as I have too much grass and they go out at about 6pm at night.

You know your horses, In my neck of the woods rain is forecast for most of tomorrow so mine will definitely have theirs on!

i know it gives rain but the temperture dont ment to drop below 15.c so that is quite warm what breed are your horses?

Its forecast to last here till later in afternoon, hoping to ride when it clears/early evening, temp around 10-12 degrees, however they have been rugless since march ish!!
Thinking they should be ok tho, they are only sheets x

If they have been rugless since march I'd be inclined to leave the rugs off. Just looked on metcheck and it said 13 degrees lowest so not too chilly - do they have shelter?

No, no shelter they are in a rented paddock at the mo.
No natural shelter either, quite open to elements, but have been ok, brought in wed night when it was vile.
The whole rug or not thing is purely based on them being clean and dry for me to ride 2moro, hence me thinking i'm being selfish lol!! i'll see how they feel and how warm they are when i get there then decide based on that

i'd put a rainsheet on, plus they'll be clean in the morning.
I have to confess my 23yr old shetland wears a rain sheet when its wet - he shivers if I don't cover him, although he's in at night so is a soft git like me

I dont bother and just tack up with him wet, so long as he is not muddy and wet. I want him to be rugless for as long as possible really.
