Hi just wondering if anyone seen this before and if it is what I think it is? Please view attached photos. It’s a hard bump and Judy shows no discomfort with it I’ve touched it a bunch and she doesn’t even notice

My last horse had granulomas, but they are a lot more common under tack, the area you show would be unusual enough that I would have the vet out to check it.

I have worked with horses with them where we simply ignored them. Some hung round, a couple disappeared. With my own horse, however, she was having some shoes off/turn away time off anyway due to my personal life turning upside down, so I took the opportunity to whip them out surgically. My plan had been to inject; the vet said 50/50 that they would simply disappear if we did this, without scarring. However, the vet was slightly concerned as the mare was grey, so wanted to do a biopsy to rule out melanoma.

Being as he wanted to do a biopsy, and she wasn't a show animal, we whipped them off surgically while he was there. All done and dusted in the same appointment. They healed up without incident (after an initial whoopsie with a severed artery !!!). The biopsy showed granuloma. Other than stitches out a couple of weeks later, no further treatment necessary.

If I hadn't been going to take her out of work due to my personal life, I would have injected or simply left them.

Never seen one in the location you show that though, hence suggesting the vet check.

I’ve called the vet and she’ll call me back after awhile to tell me possible causes and then we will talk further. Cuz of the placement she seems confused about what it could be so might need to sample it and send for tests? ??‍♀️
my Judy always finds some way to make life exciting ? and expensive ??‍♀️

It’s a cyst of some sort apparently vet came out and checked. Cuz it’s not bothering her it won’t need to be removed unless she gets sore or it gets any bigger
