Raising Money - maybe a sponsored ride?

Ok so Ipswich hospital is trying to raise £40,000 to buy a heart scanner.

My baby has a cardiac problem, so I feel I should help raise some money.

My first idea is to maybe do raise sponsorship for me to ride the edge of suffolk (starting at ipswich hospital (yards close to it) and ending at the hospital. But I have no idea where to start. I imagine it might take me a while, so I know we'll need to be mega fit, and I shall arrange for stabling and things on the way round. Im hoping to organise this for May or June next year, to give us plenty of time after winter to get fit for this.

So a few questions:


how far can one horse go in a single day??

Does this sound possible, or is the total too far??

how can i work out how far the edge of suffolk is?

I plan to have breaks on the way, where I can arrange for water, toilet, food etc. How often would be appropriate? Say every 3 hours for 30minutes or more or less?

Would I need extra insurances? I have the 3rd Party already.

Will you sponsor me please?

Ok what im going to do is the length of suffolk coast (after speaking to my mum) I have done some googling.

I will start in lowestoft and ride the length of the coast (approx 47 miles) and finish the coast in levington, but then ride the remainder to the hospital where I will complete my ride!!

think my bum will be sore, lol.
Just need to figure out how far i can ride in one day (total) and how often i need to stop for breaks. Thanks .

Might be worth finding an endurance forum online or something, they might be more able to help? Would think it also depends what time span you intend to do it in! Or maybe get in touch with other people on here who have done similar?

Perhaps find some B&Bs along the way and stop off with the horse for a night then carry on

Then to raise more money have you thought about doing it in fancy dress?
